Capacity Global advocates for environmental equality in a number of Environmental Justice policy and campaign arenas. An important part of this work involves our targeted participation in public consultations with the objective of supporting the creation of progressive policy and influential campaigns.

We have participated in public consultations with a range of organisations including the British Council, Neighbourhood Renewal Unit, Environment Agency, Friends of the Earth, BCTV, London 21, Taru Brazil, Black Environmental Network, London Sustainability Exchange, Jagonari Women's Centre, Kingfisher Plc and the Department for Communities and Local Government and Natural England.

Building on our experience as a main contributor to Environmental Justice policy development in the UK, we are currently expanding our remit to include engaging in public consultation on European and International environmental issues.

Capacity signs up to the Women's Manifesto on Climate Change (15 May 2007)

We know that climate change is both a factor in, and a cause of, global injustice, and that its effects are felt disproportionately by those least responsible for the emissions that are fuelling it. By recognising the fact that not only are women already paying a heavier price for climate change than men – and that’s only set to get worse – but that they are under-represented in the debate, both economically and politically, this manifesto makes an environmental case for the greater involvement of women in all areas of public life, especially politics and business.

The manifesto produced by the Women’s Environmental Network and the National Federation of Women’s Institutes, highlights the fact that women are a key force in moving towards more sustainable lifestyles. Women make most of the consumer decisions that can influence global warming, are under represented in the decision making processes but are also disproportionately affected by its impacts.
