Capacity Global works with research partners to look at diversity issues within the environmental sector. We also specialise in helping organisations and institutions research and explore opportunities that will, through the development of audience plans and the assessment of existing services, improve their ability to engage and provide employment opportunities for young people, low income and working class households, Black, Asian, Minority and Ethnic (BAME) communities. If you are interested in looking at how to develop the reach of your organisation contact: research@capacity.org.uk
The report 'Hard to Reach?' manifesto was launched today. This looks at why the
environmental sector has failed so often to engage with diverse groups,
notably Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, but also disabled communities and older and young people, many of whom feel excluded from environmental action. 13 April 2010 - One Day Course: This one day course available in Jaunaury and April will help you develop your practical skills, knowledge and confidence to develop inclusive envionmental and climate change policy and projects with divserse communities that are often called 'hard to reach'. Whether you want to developyour network with specific communities or better engage excluded groups the course will take you through the key things you need to know and the core skills you need to have.
There are two key aims to this study: to develop a detailed understanding of environmental and connecting social concerns and interests of four specific groups who were under-represented with EAC; and to provide an overview on their prespectives on taking action, as an individual, group or organisation on environmental and related social concerns. The four under-represented groups are: young people below the age of 25; older people over the age of 65; people with disabilities; and black, asian, minority, ehnic groups and refugees.
