Environmental Justice Activists

Do you want to live in a fairer world?
Would you like to have the tools to make your community greener?
Do you want to get the skills to change the environment?
Is your neighborhood under threat from pollution or new roads?
Are you concerned about poverty?

The Environmental Justice Activist project is the first UK wide project working with ordinary people, to help transform neighbourhoods under the threat of pollution and environment problems into healthy places to live.

Capacity in partnership with Friends of the Earth Scotland are running a unique programme of training and advice for ‘hands on‘ local projects for people who want to ensure they and other communities live in a healthy environment.

Anyone can become an activist. Capacity Global offers the opportunity to learn more about your rights and how to make communities and environment a better place to live. We run a number of seminars and courses covering issues like human rights and the environment, dealing with the media, understanding the planning system and what tools can be used for improving communities. The courses are run in partnership with Ruskin College Oxford, Queen Margaret’s University College, Every Action Counts, Friends of the Earth Scotland and FIELD. Many of the courses are accredited, so you could receive a Higher Education Certificate or a nationally recognised CPD or ASET certificate.

The courses run throughout the year and you can study from home, arrange a half day seminar with your community group, or attend a residential weekend. No previous qualifications are required.

Our next workshop/seminar/ course is:

15/16/17 Sept: Understanding Environment, Poverty & Globalisation - Ruskin College

9/10/11 May: Understanding Environment, Poverty & Globalisation - Ruskin College

For more information contact ejactivists@capacity.org.uk.

more about how the law can help their campaigns, law students and academics, lawyers interested in developing their environmental practice and anyone interested in the compelling topic of Earth right.

The group has now begun a community garden project at the Brixton Domino Club. George and Negasa have been instrumental in providing participants with a strong sense of confidence and they are busily spreading the message
